25 years later, SiriusXM remembers Queen’s Freddie Mercury
This Thursday, November 24th marks the 25th anniversary of the passing of Freddie Mercury.
As the singer for Queen, Freddie is one of the greatest frontmen in the history of popular music. He had a magnificent range that could sing everything, from the hardest of rock songs to magnificent operatic notes. Meanwhile, Mercury’s charisma on and offstage was second to none.
He was simply one in a million.
Since his passing, the legend of both Freddie Mercury and Queen has only increased. There have been countless compilation albums and reissues. Over the years, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May have toured the world with Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Adam Lambert from American Idol valiantly stepping into Freddie’s shoes.
But really, there’s no replacing Freddie Mercury.
Queen’s catalogue is one of the greatest in music. You can hear it on a wide range of SiriusXM channels, from Classic Rewind and Classic Vinyl, to 70s on 7 and 80s on 8.
