Amy Schumer tells Andy Cohen what her favourite part of preparing to host the Oscars is
During a new interview with host Andy Cohen on Radio Andy (Ch. 102), Amy Schumer revealed that she is working on her material for co-hosting the Academy Awards on March 27.
“My favourite thing is to work on a set,” she explained. “Like, I used to do those roasts and whatever. So, writing jokes and asking my friends who are comics to help with jokes, so it’s just been so, so fun working on it. I’m like — working on it is kind of the best part.”
“I’m gonna be me,” she warned, to which Cohen replied, “Well, good. That’s what we’re all signing up for.”
Cohen and Schumer both agreed that past Academy Awards have been painfully too long (Cohen likened them to a telethon without a disease). To shake things up, the 94th Academy Awards ceremony has cut eight categories and will be hosted by Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
This year’s nominees for Best Picture include Belfast, Coda, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, and West Side Story. Nominees for Actor in a Leading Role are Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington, while nominees for Actress in a Leading Role are Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, and Kristen Stewart. The Awards air on Sunday, March 27th at 8 pm ET.
