Boston take on Toronto + more NHL Games of the Week

NHL Games of the Week
BOSTON, MA - MARCH 07: Boston Bruins center Charlie Coyle (13) grabs the puck as Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren (37) moves in during a game between the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 7, 2024, at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Saturday, November 2nd – 11 am Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Dallas Stars at Florida Panthers

This is the second of two games in the 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal. The Panthers are the defending Stanley Cup champions after an impressive run this past spring. They face a Stars team that many expect to represent the Western Conference in the Cup Final next spring. Is this a preview of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final?

Sunday, November 3rd – 1 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New York Islanders at New York Rangers

These two old rivals always provide top-notch hockey entertainment. The Rangers are one of the top teams in the NHL and are bona fide Stanley Cup contenders. Who are the Islanders? Even head coach Patrick Roy appears to be frustrated with his crew, and once again, the Islanders have problems putting the puck in the net.

Monday, November 4th – 8:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New Jersey Devils at Edmonton Oilers

Superstar captain Connor McDavid had to leave after the first shift in a recent game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. What does this ankle injury mean for McDavid and the Oilers? Apparently, two to three weeks without their Captain. The 2024 Stanley Cup finalists are off to yet another under-performing start, and tonight, welcome in a Devils’ squad that never did recover from mediocre goaltending and a spat of injuries last season. This time around, New Jersey looks primed to challenge for the Metropolitan Division crown, though it hasn’t necessarily been all smooth sailing so far.

Tuesday, November 5th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs

For whatever reason, the Maple Leafs have difficulty beating the Bruins, either in the regular season or in the playoffs. Both teams are expected to be in the mix for top spot in the tough Atlantic Division, though Boston was off to a rather tepid start to the season. Toronto recently took down the previously unbeaten Winnipeg Jets.

Wednesday, November 6th – 8:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers

These two teams were expected to be amongst the top three teams in the Pacific Division this season. To this point, only the Golden Knights have lived up to that billing. Forwards Mark Stone and Jack Eichel have been outstanding, as has the entire Vegas team. They take on an Oilers team with high hopes for this campaign after falling short in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final this past June.

Thursday, November 7th – 8 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 167
Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets

A tale of two starts; the Jets were red-hot out of the gate, winning their first eight games, before falling 6-4 to the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. The Avalanche dropped their first four starts before rattling off a five-game winning streak. They reside in the tough Central Division, where most observers expect the Dallas Stars to reign.

Friday, November 8th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington Capitals

These two teams are constantly compared, particularly since Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin joined the NHL in time for the 2005-06 season. Since then, both future Hall-of-Famers have enjoyed much success, including the Stanley Cup Championships. But that’s long ago; who are these two teams now? The surprising red-hot Caps just made the Eastern Conference playoff cut last season, only to bow out in the first round. The Penguins have sat out the previous two post-season tournaments and aren’t off to a great start so far this time around, sinking at or near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
