Lewis Capaldi Delivers An Exclusive Performance From SiriusXM’s The Garage in Hollywood
While Lewis Capaldi may not have won Song of the Year on the GRAMMY Awards stage, his campaign for the hearts of SiriusXM listeners is still on lock. Last Friday, just days before the 62nd GRAMMY Awards, 2019 breakout artist and 2020 nominee Capaldi performed an intimate invitation-only set at The Garage performance space in SiriusXM’s Hollywood studios, followed by a Q&A session with a select group of audience members.
This live performance, which served as a thank you to SiriusXM and Pandora’s efforts early on and through 2019 to break Capaldi in the U.S., will air on The Pulse (Ch. 15) on Friday, February 7th at 6 pm ET. Select songs from the show will replay on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2), with the broadcast schedule to be announced soon.
“I remember being over in America and hearing ‘Someone You Loved’ on The Pulse,” Capaldi said. “It was the first time I’d ever heard it on the radio outside of the U.K., which was absolutely unreal! SiriusXM went all-in on playing my music across so many of their channels like Hits 1, The Blend, and even the remix on BPM. Their support really meant a lot to me and I can’t wait to come back over and play them and the fans some tunes!”
Capaldi and his single “Someone You Loved” had a wildly successful 2019, garnering No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100, Top 40 Radio chart, Hot AC Radio chart, Shazam chart, and ultimately earning him a 2020 GRAMMY Award nomination in the Song of the Year category. To breakthrough in the U.S., Capaldi got help from SiriusXM to propel his song to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 for three weeks, marking the first No. 1 single from a debut U.K. artist since February 2016. “Someone You Loved” was first played in the U.S. on The Pulse in December 2018.
