Live @ Home Debuts on SiriusXM With Singer-Songwriter Celeigh Cardinal
Sarah Burke here from SiriusXM Canada’s music department. How are you doing? I sincerely hope you and your family are safe and healthy. We’re all adjusting to a new normal working from home, and while it’s been easy to figure out how to program music and host interviews from home, we’ve been trying to find a way to bring you more live music from your favourite artists at a safe distance! If we’re stuck at home, we may as well FEEL like we’re at a concert, RIGHT?
Allow me to introduce you to a new show that will air on several SiriusXM Canadian channels called Live @ Home. It’s exactly what you think it is – an artist performing live from their home. This will also give the artists we love a chance to tell us about new music, new inspirations, and how they’re doing during self-isolation. This is our way of bringing everyone together in lieu of real-life gatherings. We’ll let you know who’s going live and when on our social accounts, so please follow along @SiriusXMCanada on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for updates.
Our first performer is Juno-nominated singer-songwriter, Celeigh Cardinal. She is a Métis singer-songwriter from Edmonton, who was just nominated for her first JUNO Award with her album Stories from a Downtown Apartment.
She just released her music video for ‘When All is Said and Done,’ which you’ll hear her perform in today’s Live @ Home session.
Celeigh Cardinal says, “This is a song I wrote while walking down Jasper Avenue, downtown Edmonton. I was in love with someone who didn’t love me back, but that didn’t stop him from hanging around. I remember thinking, “For now, I’ll just take what I can get.” I knew it wasn’t going to last, but I just wanted to feel that love in that moment anyways. It’s a song of longing, but also a song of resignation. I wasn’t going to try to anymore, I was just going to let it be.”
Congrats, Celeigh, on your new album, your Juno nod and being the first artist to perform in our Live @ Home series.
Hear her share songs & stories live from her apartment in Edmonton all day today, Friday, April 3rd.
Listen Live at 12 am, 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm, 6 pm and 9 pm on SiriusXM Canadian Indigenous People’s Radio Channel 165.
