Saturday, March 29th – 4:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche

How ‘about them St. Louis Blues? They have been red hot as of late, which has led to their rapid ascendancy in the Western Conference. A wildcard spot looks to be a more solid option than a month ago.  Tonight, they face an Avalanche team that isn’t that far behind the Dallas Stars for second place (and playoff home-ice advantage in the first round) in the Central Division.

Sunday, March 30th – 3 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Buffalo Sabres at Washington Capitals

It’s a meeting of one of the worst teams against one of the best teams. The Capitals are firing on all cylinders. They’ll have a home-ice advantage in the Eastern Conference. The Sabres will miss the post-season for a stunning 14th straight season. They’re playing for professional pride and professional jobs. Washington sniper Alex Ovechkin continues his march towards 894. Now you know the rest of the story.

Monday, March 31st – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Minnesota Wild at New Jersey Devils

Both these teams have recently been playing better hockey. The Wild looked like they might slip down into the second Western wildcard spot, but recent wins have put an end to that slide. The Columbus Blue Jackets were knocking on the third-place door in the Metropolitan Division, but the Devils took out the Jackets in two meetings, and now New Jersey appears locked into that spot. Which translates to a tough first-round showdown with the red-hot Carolina Hurricanes.

Tuesday, April 1st – 10 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights

Nothing foolish about this Tuesday night matchup of two Pacific Division battleship teams. The Golden Knights and Oilers have been locked in a season-long battle for division supremacy. The Los Angeles Kings are also lurking offshore, which means, most likely, one of these two teams will have to face them in the opening round of the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs. Yes, it matters where you finish. The Kings very easily could finish second in this division. The Oilers are learning to live life without superstar forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, as both have been shut down due to injuries. The upside of that?  They should be well-rested for the upcoming playoffs.

Wednesday, April 2nd – 10:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Seattle Kraken at Vancouver Canucks

The Kraken will not be making the playoff this time around, but what about the Canucks? They looked like a lock for a while, but the Calgary Flames wouldn’t go away. Then the St. Louis Blues got hot, and now the Blues are most likely the odds-on favourite to grab the final Western Conference wildcard invite. So it’s imperative that Vancouver grab two points tonight. The return of goaltender Thatcher Demko has been a big boost to the Canucks.

Thursday, April 3rd – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Tampa Bay Lightning at Ottawa Senators

Hands up, those who truly believed an early April game between the two 1992 expansion cousins would mean something in the tough Atlantic Division. Exactly. Yet here we are. The Atlantic is still up for grabs between the Lightning, the Panthers, and the Maple Leafs. The first Eastern Conference wildcard spot appears to be in the possession of the Senators, but they can’t glide into the post-season just yet.  So, yes, this game tonight matters.

Friday, April 4th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Chicago Blackhawks at Washington Capitals

Ovie continues his march to and past 894 while the Blackhawks are closing out another rebuilding season. Washington has been the top team in the Eastern Conference seemingly from the starting gate and has gone back and forth with the Winnipeg Jets for the top spot in the entire league. And the Blackhawks continue their rebuilding phase.
