How did Tom Brady respond to Gisele wanting him to retire?
HOUSTON — Apparently, Tom Brady isn’t thinking that it’s time to call it quits.
That might not be music to the ears of his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, but the New England Patriots’ 39-year-old quarterback told Jim Miller on Movin’ The Chains that he is sticking with his plan to play five more seasons.
“I feel like I can still do it“
His fifth Super Bowl win, which came in such dramatic fashion as he led the Patriots back from a 25-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons, doesn’t change that.
“If it was up to my wife, she would have me retire today,” Brady said. “She told me that last night three times. And I said, ‘Too bad, babe, I’m having too much fun right now.’ You know, I feel like I can still do it. If you love what you do and you’re capable of doing it, then I might be so bored if I wasn’t going out there knowing that I could still do it. So I’m going to work hard to be ready to go, and I still plan on playing for a long time.”
“Having your family life settled does allow you to focus more“
Brady hasn’t gotten older. He has gotten better. And he thinks age has worked to his benefit.
“In some ways, being more experienced and having your family life settled does allow you to focus a little bit more, too, because there’s less B.S. in your life,” he said. “You have your family and you can go to work and focus on your job. And you expect your teammates to do the same.”
