Go Track by Track with Buffy Sainte-Marie
After half a century making music, her messages & passion are just the same for her 18th studio album. Buffy Sainte-Marie put together a collection of new songs and re-imagined some of her classics for Medicine Songs. This new body of work is nominated for both Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the 2018 Juno Awards this weekend in Vancouver.
She tells SiriusXM’s Sarah Burke, “This album is all of my activist songs together… but in our show…we include protest songs, and songs that are not going to cure cancer, but songs that are kind-of like Vitamin C for those ideas that you have in yourself that others are trying to defeat. I hope to help others regenerate their own thinking, and contribute to their own families and communities, or better use the ‘medicine’ within themselves.”
Join us for a special presentation of SiriusXM’s Track by Track program all weekend on CH. 165, Canadian Indigenous Peoples’ Radio. Buffy Sainte-Marie will join SiriusXM’s Sarah Burke to discuss her inspirations and songwriting on the new album.
